Renato Estacio-Burdick, Baritone has performed, stage managed or directed in 30+ unique shows (not including multiple nights of shows) to include musicals, operas, operettas, theater, in both the U.S. and abroad. Performances and roles have included Tonio (I Pagliacci), Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Thomas Putnam (The Crucible opera), Tin Woodsman & Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz), Masetto (Don Giovanni), and being a casino singer (Broadway revues).
In March, Renato sang his first classical music concert in New Mexico at the Cathedral of St. John Albuquerque, singing arias and art songs from the classical repertoire to include Mozart, Puccini, Tosti, and Schubert.
In June 2022, we saw Renato in the Netherlands singing Simone (Gianni Schicchi) and Marco, (Gianni Schicchi) with the Flehite Sinfonietta under Maestro Samuel Otero. He was slated to sing Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), and Marullo (Rigoletto) at several venues but he contracted COVID-19 (he and several members of the cast and orchestra contracted and recovered).
During July & August 2022, Renato traveled to Germany to sing at the International Opera Festival Berlin as Frank in the opera Die Fledermaus (Maestro Valter Borin). In August 2022, Renato also was a soloist with the Los Alamos Light Opera (debut) in their Broadway Show Revue.
Renato will return to Germany in 2023 to sing the role of Jupiter in Orpheus in the Underworld and learn the role of Papageno in The Magic Flute at the International Opera Festival in Berlin.
Renato served as a Music Commissioner for the State of New Mexico https://www.newmexicomusic.org/2015/10/06/renato-estacio-vice-chair/ from September 2014 - November 2019 for New Mexico, a thespian festival judge, and NM State Fair Karaoke Judge. Renato served as Interim Music Director for the Albuquerque Civic Chorus, where he selected repertoire, conducted the ensemble, and facilitated the strategic direction of the organization; Renato was also Music Director for St. Chad’s Episcopal Church from 2014 - 2016.
Academically, Renato attended Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, OH, where he studied tuba performance and English literature; from Oberlin, Renato received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature with an emphasis in Theater. Additional academic background includes degrees in marketing (MBA-Honors) and vocal performance (BMus – Magna Cum Laude/MMus). He studied with Dr. Alfonse Anderson and is completing an EdD in Higher Education Teaching and Learning with Alverno College.
Outside of the arts, Estacio is a restaurateur, teacher, and has worked in gaming technology. He enjoys public speaking and regularly hosts shows and bingos.
