Official Bio

Bass-Baritone Renato Estacio-Burdick is based out of Albuquerque, NM and currently engaged as a vocal coach for the 2023 reality show Broadway Bound Live! and will perform the role of Chandler (a role they performed in 2022) in the stage to screen version of Shout! - a story on LGBTQIA service members. Renato previously narrated a documentary on LGBTQIA service members that is in post-production and did voice overs for radio and gaming devices.


Renato is the recipient of several awards in the arts: 1st Prize National Association of Teachers of Singing Sophomore Division; 1st Place Classical Singer West Texas, Marjorie Barrick Opera Scholarship; and the Mark Hamill Award for Fine Arts. Renato has adjudicated singing, acting, and other performance competitions and festivals for 28 years and was also a professional casino singer & host of Broadway Show Revues.


Recently, Renato sang with the Los Alamos Light Opera as a soloist in their Broadway Show Revue, and also sang the roles of Simone and Marco in the opera Gianni Schicchi (Maestro Samuel Otero) in Amersfoort, Netherlands and was scheduled to sing Count Ceprano / Marullo in Rigoletto in the Netherlands (but COVID-19 caused opera cancellations in June 2022). 


In July and August 2022, Renato sang at the International Opera Festival Berlin as Frank in Die Fledermaus (Maestro Valter Borin) and studied the role of Sarastro for Die Zauberflöte, and will return to Berlin, Germany in July 2023 to sing the lead role of Jupiter in Orphée aux Enfers by Offenbach and also study the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at the International Opera Festival.


Renato has served as a Music Commissioner for the State of New Mexico from 2014-2019, Music Director for the Albuquerque Civic Chorus, Music Director for St. Chad’s, and is the Founder & Artistic Director of the NM Black Cat Cultural Enterprises.  


As a member of the ISCNM, Renato was ICPt XXV and XXVII. As a supporter of gender nonconforming individuals, Renato pushed to have one of the first gender-neutral titles in competitions, and insisted it be included in the Sidewinders’ Pageant in 2016. 


Renato holds a BA degree in English literature with an emphasis in Theater and a minor in Psychology and a BMus in Applied Voice; they also hold advanced degrees in Applied Voice (MMus) and Business (MBA with Marketing emphasis) and is completing an EdD (ABD) in Higher Educational Leadership.  Renato is also a restaurateur and teacher.
